The history of the grower

Grandfather Jo van den Berg was the pioneer that started growing tulips in 1918. after many years of hybridising tulips, he produced a number of (now well known) new varieties like Yokohama, Ballerina, Princess Victoria, Up Star, White Dream, Strong Gold and the bulbs Casablanca from a selection of 15.000 hybrids. His son continued his work, and he produced new varieties like Rea, Sweet Rosy, Yellow King, plus the closely related Mountain High. And now the third generation carries on the tradition of hybridising new varieties for the future.

Everything possible is done on the 30 hectare cultureground to get the best quality of floweringbulbs. The first step was the choice of ground and location. During the processing we do everything we can to keep the bulbs healthy. Apart from the production of bulbs, we also carry out breedingtests to determine how the new varieties react on different circumstances.
